Pastor Ramon L. Washington, Sr. was born on September 29 th 1965 in Washington, D.C. and grew up in the state of Maryland. He graduated high school in 1984 and immediately joined the US Army Reserves. After serving in the Army Reserves for a period of about nine months, he changed over to the US Marine Corps active duty and reported for boot camp at Parris Island, SC in January 1985. It was in the ranks of the US Marine Corps that Pastor Washington received his calling.
Serving in the Corps presented Pastor Washington with many opportunities to travel. He was able to visit places such as Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Africa, Norway, Japan, Greece, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. It was in Saudi Arabia where he served in defense of his country while participating in Desert Storm.
In 1992 while stationed in Okinawa Japan he was licensed in the ministry. Later in 2002 he was ordained as an Elder and served as Pastor of Christian Education at United International Christian Faith Center in Okinawa Japan. After leaving Okinawa Japan Pastor Washington retired from the US Marine Corps in 2007 after 23 years of faithful service.
After retiring from the US Marine Corps Pastor Washington settled in Charleston SC. He assumed the current position as Pastor of Plymouth Congregational Church (now Plymouth Church) in June 2011.
Pastor Washington has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development. Pastor Washington is married to LaQuinta Washington (of Charleston SC). They have six wonderful children: LaKeisha, Christopher, Ramon Jr., Isaiah, Naomi and David.
